Senior Network Engineer

Overview

In this role you will manage and optimize firewall and network security policies across on‑premise and cloud environments, supporting incident handling and change processes. You will work with cross‑functional teams to implement policy and monitoring improvements aligned with security procedures. The role focuses on configuring Palo Alto firewalls, cloud networking, and Zscaler services while analyzing logs to troubleshoot issues. This position offers a chance to shape secure network operations and enhance observability for a growing estate.

Responsibilities

• Palo Alto NGFW firewall rule administration via Panorama
• Palo Alto Strata Cloud Manager policy and object management
• Zscaler ZIA and ZPA policy administration and basic troubleshooting
• ServiceNow incident, request, and change ticket management
• Read firewall logs and basic packet captures to support issue diagnosis
• Contribute to maturing monitoring/alerting coverage across the estate
• Basic troubleshooting using ping, traceroute, and packet capture

Key requirements

• CCNP-level routing and switching knowledge
• solid core networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, OSPF/BGP basics)
• basic troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with SNMP-based monitoring tools
• ability to interpret firewall logs and packet captures
• CCNA or an equivalent networking qualification
• Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE certification or actively pursuing it
• exposure to Cisco IOS/NX-OS
• exposure to LogicMonitor
• basic scripting or automation exposure (e.g. Python)
• exposure to AWS cloud networking fundamentals
