This role sits within Capgemini’s Financial Services Business Unit as part of the Cloud & Custom Applications (C&CA) Practice – our motto is “consult with purpose, continuously evolve, and architect tomorrow”.
We’re building a new generation of engineers who combine strong technical capability with curiosity, clear communication, a thirst for new knowledge – and a practical understanding of applied AI.
This is a hands-on engineering role, but it also requires the ability to understand the people using the technology. You’ll need to listen well, ask relevant questions, and be able to explain- and present your thinking clearly to different stakeholders. As a hands‑on AI Engineer, you will design, build, and deploy real‑world AI and Generative AI solutions that turn client ambition into measurable outcomes. You’ll work directly with stakeholders, shape practical AI‑enabled workflows, and translate complex problems into secure, scalable, and production‑ready solutions-helping clients move confidently from experimentation to enterprise adoption.
The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your Role:
- Design, build and deliver AI-enabled, cloud-native full-stack applications using Java/Python, React and AWS.
- Work across the full AI-enabled software development lifecycle, from requirements and solution design through coding, testing, deployment, observability and continuous improvement.
- Develop backend services and APIs using Java/Spring Boot and/or Python, integrating enterprise systems, data sources and AI services.
- Integrate Generative AI and LLM capabilities into enterprise applications using patterns such as RAG, semantic/vector retrieval, prompt engineering, agents and workflow orchestration.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering techniques to accelerate coding, testing, documentation, refactoring, troubleshooting and code review while maintaining engineering quality.
- Design and deploy solutions on AWS, using appropriate cloud-native compute, integration, data and AI services.
- Build secure, scalable API-led, microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Implement automated unit, integration, API and UI testing, together with appropriate evaluation of AI behaviour and output quality.
- Apply DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and containerisation to build repeatable engineering and deployment pipelines.
- Build security, responsible AI, privacy, reliability, observability and governance into solutions from design through production.
- Work collaboratively across frontend, backend, AI, cloud and data layers rather than being constrained to a single technology specialism.
- Own components or workstreams end-to-end, resolve engineering blockers, and communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
