MFK Recruitment is recruiting an experienced MLOps or Machine Learning Platform Engineer for an innovative UK technology company developing advanced artificial intelligence systems for defence and security applications.
You will build and maintain the infrastructure required to train, test, deploy and monitor machine learning models across secure production environments. The work will support computer vision, perception and wider machine learning programmes.
The position will be based fully onsite at a customer office in Cambridgeshire.
MFK Recruitment has supported this organisation for several years. We have placed four engineers with the company, and each remains with the business.
Responsibilities
Design and maintain production machine learning platforms.
Build automated pipelines for data preparation, training, testing and deployment.
Develop CI/CD processes for machine learning models and supporting software.
Manage containerised workloads and orchestration platforms.
Support GPU infrastructure and distributed model training.
Implement model versioning, experiment tracking and artefact management.
Establish monitoring for model performance, infrastructure and data quality.
Improve the reliability, security and repeatability of ML deployments.
Support deployment across secure, on-premises and restricted environments.
Work closely with machine learning, software, infrastructure and customer teams.
Produce technical documentation and contribute to platform architecture.
Essential experience
Active UK DV clearance.
Commercial experience building or operating production machine learning systems.
Strong Python and Linux experience.
Docker and Kubernetes.
CI/CD pipeline development.
Infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible or similar technologies.
Experience deploying and monitoring trained machine learning models.
Cloud or on-premises platform engineering.
Strong understanding of software engineering, automation and system reliability.
Experience working with machine learning engineers and data-intensive workloads.
Desirable experience
PyTorch, TensorFlow or computer vision workloads.
MLflow, Kubeflow, ClearML, Weights & Biases or similar platforms.
GPU infrastructure, CUDA and distributed training.
TensorRT, ONNX or optimised inference deployment.
Air-gapped, secure or restricted computing environments.
AWS, Azure or GCP.
Edge AI and embedded deployment.
Data versioning and dataset-management platforms.
Defence, aerospace or safety‑critical engineering environments.
Candidates must already hold active UK DV clearance and be comfortable working fully onsite at the customer’s Cambridgeshire office.
