Azure Technical Architect – PaaS, Applications & DevOps
Salary: Up to £90,000 + Excellent Benefits
Location: Fully Remote (UK)
The Opportunity
We’re working with one of the world’s largest insurance groups, a global organisation investing significantly in its cloud infrastructure, application platforms and digital transformation.
They’re looking for an experienced Azure Technical Architect to join their Cloud Engineering & Architecture team, with a strong focus on Azure PaaS, cloud-native applications, DevOps and platform engineering.
This is an opportunity to influence Azure architecture at enterprise scale, designing the platforms and services that enable development teams to build, deploy and operate modern applications securely and efficiently.
The Role
Working closely with Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers and Software Development teams, you’ll be responsible for:
- Designing and evolving Azure PaaS and cloud-native application architectures.
- Architecting solutions using Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Container Apps and API Management.
- Designing application integration patterns using Service Bus, Event Grid and other Azure messaging services.
- Developing and optimising CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Building reusable infrastructure and deployment templates using Bicep and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Designing Azure networking, identity, security and application connectivity.
- Supporting Azure Landing Zones, governance and wider cloud platform architecture.
- Implementing monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics.
- Establishing reusable architecture patterns, automation and DevOps best practices.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an Azure Architect with strong experience across PaaS, application architecture and DevOps, supported by a solid understanding of Azure infrastructure.
Key technical experience:
- Application Integration: Service Bus, Event Grid, messaging and API architectures.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, automated deployments and release processes.
- Infrastructure as Code: Strong hands-on experience with Bicep or Terraform.
- Azure Infrastructure: Landing Zones, networking, identity, security, governance and IaaS.
- Security & Connectivity: Entra ID, RBAC, Key Vault, private endpoints and network security.
- Monitoring: Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics.
- Architecture: Experience producing technical designs, reusable patterns and reference architectures.
You’ll need strong technical depth alongside the ability to collaborate with development, engineering and security teams.
This isn’t a traditional infrastructure-focused Azure Architect role. We’re particularly interested in architects experienced in designing Azure application platforms, PaaS services and DevOps capabilities.
