Infrastructure Software Engineer, Apps Platform

Overview

In this role, you help scale Scale’s Apps Platform by building cloud-agnostic deployment and observability layers across cloud providers and on‑prem. You’ll partner with internal teams to shape a deployment roadmap and fix real-world issues, balancing immediate needs with long-term architecture. You will drive repeatable, secure deployments and robust monitoring to support customer deployments. Your work directly enables cross‑functional teams to operate at scale and across diverse environments, contributing to Scale’s mission to power reliable AI systems.

Responsibilities

• Expand deployment footprint to cover multi-cloud and on-prem environments
• Ensure fast, secure, and reproducible deployments across all CSPs and on‑prem
• Expand platform observability for customer deployments
• Collaborate with internal teams to capture needs and build tooling
• Respond to incidents with root cause analysis and preventive fixes
• Develop and maintain a roadmap for deployment and observability
• Lead architecture reviews and own end‑to‑end projects in cross‑functional settings

Key requirements

• 5+ years building and deploying enterprise and public sector solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI and on‑premises
• Deep expertise in infrastructure design, networking (VPNs, load balancers, firewalls)
• Proficiency with IaC, containerisation and orchestration (Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker)
• Strong CI/CD knowledge using GitHub Actions or CircleCI
• Experience with GitOps deployments and ensuring repeatable deployments
• Strong debugging skills and ability to navigate performance/security tradeoffs in production systems
• Comfort with ambiguity and switching between incident response and product development
