Planning Manager

Overview

As Planning Manager at GXO’s Milton Keynes site, you lead the planning function and support Daventry, ensuring optimal staffing and resource deployment. You will guide daily to long-term workforce plans in collaboration with cross-functional partners to support growth and operational excellence. Your role focuses on forecasting, scheduling, and performance analysis to deliver outstanding service and efficiency. Responsibilities

• Lead the planning team to deliver resource plans for daily, weekly, monthly, and peak periods across all operational areas
• Analyse forecasts and operational data to optimise labour deployment, agency usage, overtime, and recruitment
• Coach and develop planners to sustain high performance and succession readiness
• Drive continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, planning processes, and productivity
• Build and maintain relationships with operations leaders, customers, and external partners, providing timely updates and insights

Key requirements

• Proven experience in operational, resource, or workforce planning in logistics, warehousing, or distribution
• Strong people management with coaching and leadership abilities
• Advanced analytical skills with Excel and data management, including reporting and forecasting tools
• Solid understanding of warehouse operations, labour deployment, KPI management, and performance metrics
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management in a fast-paced environment
