Deputy Head of Site

Overview

In this role you will assist the Head of Site in operating a complex engineering and manufacturing site safely and efficiently. You’ll influence strategic direction while driving performance across production, projects, and customer accounts, focusing on safety, quality and delivery. You will translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and lead cross‑functional performance reviews and improvement initiatives. This position offers impact on business performance, customer confidence, and the development of future operational capability at Babcock’s Walsall site.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategic objectives into operational plans and priorities
• Coordinate performance across production, projects, customer accounts and enabling functions
• Lead site performance reviews, action tracking, escalations and recovery planning
• Monitor safety, security, quality, delivery, cost, cash, people and risk performance; drive corrective actions
• Embed operational excellence and continuous improvement across the site

Key requirements

• Substantial operational leadership experience in a complex manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally automotive or defence
• Experience delivering operational performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost and people
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and resolving cross‑functional delivery challenges
• Strong customer and contract management experience, delivering contractual outputs and managing stakeholder priorities
• Commercial and financial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, performance improvement and risk management
