Network Engineer

Overview

In this role you design, deploy and optimise secure SDN solutions for critical defence and intelligence programmes. You will work with Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T to connect on‑premises data centres with cloud environments, ensuring performance and security. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive improvements and influence technical decisions, while contributing to long‑term mission‑critical services. Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy and manage scalable SDN environments using Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T
• Implement micro-segmentation, distributed firewalling and granular access controls
• Enable seamless connectivity between on‑premises data centres and cloud infrastructure
• Improve network performance, resilience and scalability across physical and virtual environments
• Diagnose complex networking issues using packet capture, flow analysis and SDN monitoring tools
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop solutions and drive improvements
• Provide technical escalation support, contribute to root cause investigations and drive continuous service improvement

Key requirements

• Cisco ACI: hands-on design, implementation and support
• VMware NSX-T: practical experience for secure, reliable networks
• Software Defined Networking: solid understanding of SDN concepts
• Network Security: experience implementing security measures for systems and data
• Cloud & Hybrid Networking: familiarity with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud and hybrid connectivity
