Estates Manager

Overview

In this Estates Manager role, you will steer the maintenance of Broadmoor Hospital’s estate to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality services. You will lead the Estates team, ensure compliance with HTMs and Trust policies, and support cost-effective hard services. You will engage with safety forums and translate specialist advice into action. This role offers an opportunity to shape estate management in a high-security healthcare setting and improve patient safety and clinician satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Oversee management, coordination and monitoring of building maintenance using internal staff and contractors
• Ensure estate maintenance meets statutory requirements, HTMs, and Trust policies
• Provide specialist management and support on hard services across Broadmoor sites
• Lead and develop the Estates team to ensure safe, economical and efficient operations
• Attend and contribute to Trust Safety Committees and address issues to completion

Key requirements

• 5+ years post-qualification experience in a commercial maintenance environment
• Professional graduate level qualification in Building Services Engineering and HV safety training
• Experience in surveys/audits (e.g., condition surveys) and understanding HTM guidance
• Line management experience in estates maintenance and contracting knowledge
• Excellent communication, staff engagement, and customer service skills

• Computer and database literate
• Knowledge of workshop safety, risk assessment, and COSHH
• Desirable: CAD literacy, asbestos management experience
