Procurement Manager

Overview

In this Procurement Manager role, you will lead a strategic sourcing programme across assigned categories and drive value through cost improvements and quality enhancements. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver procurement projects and manage supplier relationships. The position supports NHS trusts in Hampshire, contributing to wider procurement excellence and standardisation across the local health economy. You will oversee performance reporting, governance compliance, and team development, with opportunities to deputise for the Senior Procurement Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing across multiple categories and drive delivery of procurement projects
• Support cost and efficiency savings through spend analysis and strategy development
• Maintain accurate management information and CIP reporting
• Ensure effective use of procurement systems and procedures
• Achieve best value via supplier relationship and contract management strategies
• Lead tenders and complex procurement projects
• Research market trends and guide new business opportunities
• Mentor and manage a small procurement team and support governance/compliance
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and ensure standardisation across the local health economy
• Provide cover for senior colleagues and contribute to staff training and development

Key requirements

• Level 6 MCIPS Qualification or equivalent experience
• Member of CIPS or relevant professional institute or equivalent experience
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Knowledge of professional purchasing principles
• Experience in large complex procurement projects with multiple stakeholders
• Influencing and contract management skills to achieve value for money
• Strategic sourcing experience and supplier relationship management
• Experience leading or mentoring teams and delivering against targets
• Experience in a customer service environment with defined customer base
