Drives and PLC Technical and Application Support Engineer

Overview

In this role you will deliver technical and application support for ABB’s drives portfolio to partners, customers and the sales team. You’ll help tailor solutions that meet specific customer needs, collaborating with factories and support functions to showcase value. You work to resolve enquiries with urgency and contribute to a superior customer experience. The position sits in the Technical & Applications Support team within UK and supports the sales organization to drive business. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to influence product demonstrations, training delivery, and on-site support, contributing to ABB’s mission of energy‑efficient automation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to partners, customers and colleagues on the ABB drives portfolio
• Deliver timely technical and applications assistance with a strong customer focus
• Assist in delivering and implementing technically appropriate, value-added solutions
• Stay updated on new product features and market requirements with other experts
• Collaborate with drives factories, OEM hubs and support functions
• Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to highlight portfolio benefits
• Provide project on-site support, training, and maintenance delivery
• Comply with ABB Integrity and ethics programs and training requirements

Key requirements

• Strong customer focus and problem-solving skills
• Experience in technical and application support, especially in OEM markets and customer applications
• Motion control / servo experience preferred
• Ability to communicate and collaborate across local business, factory teams and supporting functions
• Qualifications in electrical engineering or related discipline preferred
• Knowledge and experience in variable speed drive systems
• Several years proven background in Drives and PLC technical and application support
• Passion for technology, innovation, sustainability and energy efficiency
• Full UK driving licence
