Associate Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will lead cost consultancy delivery for a mixed portfolio, focusing on strong client relationships and team leadership. You’ll oversee projects from feasibility through final account, shape procurement and value engineering, and contribute to the Bristol team’s growth. You’ll work cross-functionally with design teams and contractors to deliver commercial outcomes while mentoring junior staff. Responsibilities

• Lead cost management and quantity surveying services across a varied project portfolio
• Oversee projects from feasibility and cost planning through procurement and construction to final account
• Prepare and review cost plans, estimates, tender documentation and financial reports
• Advise clients on procurement strategies, contract selection, value engineering and commercial risk
• Manage project budgets, change control, valuations and cost forecasting
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, design teams, contractors and other stakeholders
• Support, mentor and develop junior quantity surveyors
• Contribute to business development activities, preparing fee proposals and identifying opportunities to grow client relationships
• Support the continued growth and reputation of the Bristol cost consultancy team

Key requirements

• Significant experience in a construction or property consultancy
• Strong background in cost consultancy and quantity surveying
• Experience delivering commercial building projects, ideally including student accommodation
• MRICS qualification
• Proven ability to lead projects and manage client relationships with commercially focused advice
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience supporting business development and winning work
• Confidence to take ownership of projects and develop the next generation of cost consultants
