Clerk of Works

Our client, a specialist in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Clerk of Works / Overseeing Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Assurance & Supervision: Perform daily inspections across the Section 278 highway scheme (Blocks 1-8), ensuring carriageway resurfacing, footway widening, tactile paving, and gully/drainage installations comply with engineering drawings.
• Site Compliance: Verify site safety, NRSWA street works setup, and CDM 2015 standards on‑site.
• Reporting: Maintain and submit daily site progress logs, workforce counts, weather reports, and non‑conformance records directly to the project manager.
• Testing & Sign-Off: Witness material and compaction testing, concrete slump/cube tests, and drainage CCTV/pressure testing prior to surface adoption.

Job Requirements:

• Experience in highway engineering and construction
• Strong knowledge of Section 278 schemes and related works
• Understanding of quality assurance processes and standardsProficiency in site inspection and reporting
• Familiarity with site compliance, NRSWA, and CDM 2015 standards
• CSCS Card is required
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines

Contract Details:

• Contract Duration: 6 Months
• Start Date: End of September
• IR35 Status: Outside IR35
• Working Hours: 40 hours per week
