Apply for the Founding Engineer
Location: London
Job Description:

About the company

We are an early-stage, AI-native cybersecurity company building the next generation of digital forensics and incident response. Our platform combines AI agents with human analysts to investigate cyber incidents faster, helping organisations understand what happened, what was compromised and how to respond.

Our mission is to accelerate AI cyber defence and address the growing security challenges of the AI era. We are developing technology that can collect evidence, reconstruct attack timelines and support increasingly complex investigations, while also creating realistic evaluations to improve cyber defence capabilities.

Our values include technical excellence, high agency, ambition, urgency and a strong bias towards practical impact. We are building a high-talent-density team focused on shipping reliable systems that make investigations faster, more scalable and more effective.

What the job entails

As a Founding Engineer, you will be the fourth member of the engineering team, reporting to the Head of Engineering and working closely with the founders, security specialists, product leads and ML and data engineers. You will help scale a live, cloud-native, multi-tenant platform that is already serving customers.

The role is full-stack with a backend emphasis. You will build product features, develop AI-powered investigation workflows, integrate coding models and LLMs, and create evaluations that measure performance on real cyber defence tasks. You will also contribute to APIs, data pipelines, infrastructure, reliability, observability and engineering best practice.

This is a high-autonomy role for an exceptional applied engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and shipping end-to-end. You will primarily build for internal and service users rather than acting as a customer-facing salesperson. The role is predominantly office-based in London, with five days per week the default.

Key requirements / What we look for

  • Exceptional applied engineer with genuine full-stack capability and a backend leaning.

  • Production experience with Python, FastAPI, asynchronous systems, Celery, SQLAlchemy and Alembic.

  • Experience building APIs, data pipelines and cloud-native software.

  • Comfortable integrating LLMs, coding models, LangChain, RAG, agentic systems and model evaluations.

  • Experience with GCP or AWS, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and observability.

  • High agency, energy, ambition and founder-like potential, with minimal need for guidance.

  • Strong motivation for AI cyber defence; cybersecurity experience is advantageous but not essential.

  • Strong references and preferably a public portfolio, website, open-source contribution or evidence of shipped work.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: £100,000–£140,000, with approximately £120,000 as the target level.

  • Equity: baseline allocation of approximately 0.5%, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.

  • Flexible cash-and-equity packages considered case by case.
