Job Description:

Ready to lead a team, shape the future of a successful property practice and take the next step towards Partnership?

This is an opportunity to combine high-quality commercial property work with the chance to make a real difference to the direction and growth of a regional team.

We are working with a well-established regional law firm looking for an ambitious Commercial Property Partner or Senior Associate to join its team in Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich. This is a senior-level appointment for someone who enjoys building client relationships, supporting colleagues and taking a proactive approach to developing a practice.

Whether you are already a Partner or an experienced Senior Associate looking for a clear route to Partnership, the firm is keen to hear from lawyers who want to play an active role in its future.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • A genuine leadership role: Lead and develop a local commercial property team, helping shape its direction and success.
  • Quality work and established clients: Handle a varied caseload of complex commercial property transactions and advisory work.
  • Scope to grow the practice: Play a meaningful role in business development, strengthening existing relationships and developing new opportunities.
  • A route to Partnership: For the right Senior Associate, this offers the opportunity to progress towards Partnership.
  • A supportive culture: Join a collaborative firm that values its people, encourages development and takes a flexible approach to working.
  • A strong benefits package: Including an industry-leading annual leave policy, hybrid working, a 6% employer pension contribution, healthcare benefits and support for professional development.

The role

You will take a leading role in the commercial property team, managing your own caseload while helping colleagues develop and contributing to the wider success of the practice.

Your work will include:

  • Advising on complex acquisitions and disposals.
  • Handling landlord and tenant matters, including commercial leases.
  • Advising on property finance, development sites and investment portfolios.
  • Supporting corporate transactions on property-related matters.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional contacts, including agents, surveyors and accountants.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop the firm’s commercial property offering and strengthen its position in the local market.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members, helping them build their skills and confidence.
  • Contributing to the team’s strategy and wider business development initiatives.

This is an opportunity to combine technical expertise with leadership and commercial thinking. You will have the scope to influence how the team develops, while remaining closely involved in the work and relationships that make the practice successful.

About you

You will be an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor with at least 7 years’ PQE and a strong track record of managing transactions and client relationships.

You may already be a Partner looking for a new challenge, or a Senior Associate ready to take the next step in your career.

You will bring:

  • Strong technical experience across a broad range of commercial property matters.
  • The confidence to lead a team and support the development of others.
  • A commercially minded approach, with an understanding of how to build lasting client relationships.
  • An interest in business development and growing a successful practice.
  • A collaborative style and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the firm.
  • The ambition to contribute to the team’s future, whether as an established Partner or as someone working towards Partnership.

An existing network of contacts in Suffolk and the surrounding area would be valuable, particularly if you enjoy developing relationships and building a strong local presence.

A firm that invests in its people

The firm offers a supportive working environment alongside a broad benefits package designed to support career development, financial wellbeing and work-life balance.

Highlights include:

  • Agile and hybrid working.
  • An industry-leading paid time off policy.
  • A 6% employer pension contribution.
  • Health cash plan and employee assistance support.
  • Life assurance and permanent health insurance, subject to eligibility.
  • In-house learning and development, leadership programmes and support for professional qualifications.
  • Professional subscriptions, practising certificate and CPD costs covered.
  • Enhanced maternity and sickness pay.
