Caritas Recruitment is working with Essex County Council to recruit an experienced Children in Care Social Worker to join their highly regarded CIC West Team based in Harlow.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an Outstanding local authority committed to high-quality practice, strong management support, and positive outcomes for children and young people in care.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children and young people in care up to 18 years old.
• Undertake visits and build strong, meaningful relationships with children and families.
• Develop and progress permanency plans, including Special Guardianship Orders and adoption.
• Complete court work, including preparing court reports and care planning.
• Carry out life-story work and support children to understand their care journey.
• Work within a strengths-based, relationship-focused and trauma-informed practice model.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
• Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience.
• Previous Children in Care experience.
• Strong court work experience, including report writing and care planning.
• Ability to assess risk and make informed safeguarding decisions.
• Excellent communication, assessment and case management skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
