About Us
Save the Children UK believes every child deserves a future. In the UK and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children’s unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.
About the Team
This role is based in the UK Impact department. This part of the organisation influences debates, opinion and policies in favour of children’s rights. We use powerful evidence and thought leadership to build advocacy strategies that ensure governments know about the problems we have identified and the solutions. We work with children, families, campaigners and partners across many organisations to secure change. We create and disseminate engaging media content about children’s lives to shape debates, put pressure on decisionmakers and build public support. Our vision is to make sure families have the money, services and power to end child poverty. It’s our mission to help build communities of people who care about children, listen to what’s important to them, and work together to make things better.
Save the Children Cymru operates bilingually in Wales and we are committed to offering staff the opportunity to learn Welsh in line with our accredited Welsh Language Offer.
As this role is based in Wales (with Cardiff as the working office) you will need to be based in Wales to be able to fulfil the role. There is an expectation to be in the office at least 1 day a week.
About the role
This is a key operational role at the heart of a portfolio of funded work designed to help end child poverty and reduce its impact on children and families in Wales. The two streams of work focus on poverty and money, and poverty and climate change and the environment.
You will make sure strategy translates into strong delivery bringing together people, plans, budgets, partnerships, risks and resources to keep complex work moving and ensure funding delivers meaningful impact.
Working closely with the Head of Participation & Partnerships, you will provide the portfolio-wide oversight, challenge and coordination needed to deliver well, spot issues early and make good decisions. You will have real scope to shape how the portfolio operates, while enabling colleagues to lead their own work with autonomy and accountability.
Skills and experience needed for this role:
If you enjoy making complex things work, solving problems, bringing people together and turning plans into results and want your work to contribute to better outcomes for children and families this could be the right role for you.
This is a permanent role but 20% of this post is funded through the National Lottery Community Fund’s Supporting Great Ideas programme between 2026 – 2029.
Amdanom Ni
Mae Achub y Plant y DU yn credu bod pob plentyn yn haeddu dyfodol. Yn y DU ac ar draws y byd, rydym yn gweithio bob dydd i roi dechrau iach mewn bywyd i blant, y cyfle i ddysgu, ac amddiffyniad rhag niwed. Pan fydd argyfyngau’n digwydd ac mae plant yn fwyaf agored i niwed, rydym ymhlith y cyntaf i ymateb a’r olaf i adael. Rydym yn sicrhau bod anghenion unigryw plant yn cael eu diwallu a bod eu lleisiau’n cael eu clywed. Rydym yn sicrhau canlyniadau parhaol i filiynau o blant, gan gynnwys y rhai anoddaf i’w cyrraedd.
Am y Tîm
Mae’r swydd hon wedi’i lleoli yn adran Effaith y DU. Mae’r rhan hon o’r sefydliad yn dylanwadu ar ddadleuon, barn a pholisïau o blaid hawliau plant. Rydym yn defnyddio tystiolaeth gadarn, ein harbenigedd a’n dylanwad i lunio strategaethau eiriolaeth sy’n sicrhau bod llywodraethau’n ymwybodol o’r problemau rydym wedi’u nodi a’r atebion sydd ar gael i’w datrys. Rydym yn gweithio gyda phlant, teuluoedd, ymgyrchwyr a phartneriaid ar draws nifer o sefydliadau i sicrhau newid. Rydym yn creu ac yn rhannu cynnwys deniadol yn y cyfryngau am fywydau plant i lywio trafodaethau, rhoi pwysau ar y rhai sy’n gwneud penderfyniadau a meithrin cefnogaeth gyhoeddus.
Ein gweledigaeth yw sicrhau bod gan deuluoedd yr incwm, y gwasanaethau a’r grym sydd eu hangen i roi diwedd ar dlodi plant. Ein cenhadaeth yw helpu i adeiladu cymunedau o bobl sy’n poeni am blant, yn gwrando ar yr hyn sy’n bwysig iddynt, ac yn cydweithio i wneud pethau’n well.
Mae Achub y Plant Cymru yn gweithredu’n ddwyieithog yng Nghymru ac rydym wedi ymrwymo i gynnig y cyfle i staff ddysgu Cymraeg yn unol â’n Cynnig Cymraeg achrededig.
Gan fod y swydd hon wedi’i lleoli yng Nghymru (gyda Chaerdydd fel y swyddfa waith), bydd angen i chi fod wedi’ch lleoli yng Nghymru er mwyn cyflawni’r rôl. Disgwylir i ddeiliad y swydd fod yn y swyddfa o leiaf un diwrnod yr wythnos.
Am y Swydd
Mae hon yn swydd weithredol allweddol wrth wraidd portffolio o waith wedi’i ariannu sydd wedi’i gynllunio i helpu i roi diwedd ar dlodi plant a lleihau ei effaith ar blant a theuluoedd yng Nghymru. Mae’r ddwy ffrwd waith yn canolbwyntio ar dlodi ac arian, a thlodi a’r newid yn yr hinsawdd a’r amgylchedd.
Byddwch yn sicrhau bod strategaeth yn cael ei throsi’n weithrediad cryf drwy ddod â phobl, cynlluniau, cyllidebau, partneriaethau, risgiau ac adnoddau ynghyd i gadw gwaith cymhleth yn symud ymlaen a sicrhau bod cyllid yn cyflawni effaith ystyrlon.
Gan weithio’n agos gyda’r Pennaeth Cyfranogiad a Phartneriaethau, byddwch yn darparu’r trosolwg, yr her adeiladol a’r cydlynu ar draws y portffolio sydd eu hangen i gyflawni gwaith o safon, nodi problemau’n gynnar a gwneud penderfyniadau da. Bydd gennych gyfle gwirioneddol i lywio’r ffordd y mae’r portffolio yn gweithredu, tra’n galluogi cydweithwyr i arwain eu meysydd gwaith eu hunain gyda lefel uchel o ymreolaeth ac atebolrwydd.
Os ydych yn mwynhau gwneud i bethau cymhleth weithio, datrys problemau, dod â phobl ynghyd a throsi cynlluniau yn ganlyniadau, ac os ydych am i’ch gwaith gyfrannu at ganlyniadau gwell i blant a theuluoedd, gallai hon fod y swydd iawn i chi.
Mae hon yn swydd barhaol, ond mae 20% o’r swydd hon wedi’i hariannu drwy raglen Supporting Great Ideas Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol rhwng 2026 a 2029.
