Civils Estimator

Overview

In this Estimator role for a growing civil engineering contractor, you will support tendering across civil and groundworks projects and help drive profitable new work. You’ll work with commercial and operational teams to price labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages, identify risks, and produce competitive bids. The role offers progression from Assistant/Junior to Senior Estimator and is supported by a growing estimating function. A key hook is the opportunity to shape tendering capacity and contribute to sustained growth.

Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, drawings and specifications
• Carry out accurate take-offs and quantity measurements
• Prepare cost estimates for labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages
• Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Produce competitive tender submissions
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities within tenders
• Work closely with the wider commercial and operational teams
• Use Causeway for estimating and pricing
• Support the business in securing profitable new projects

Key requirements

• Experience in estimating within civil engineering, groundworks or related construction
• For senior roles, a strong track record of independently pricing groundworks and civils projects
• For assistants/junior roles, some estimating exposure and good take-off understanding
• Causeway experience is beneficial but not essential
