ACEPP UK is seeking an experienced Field Construction Engineer (Piping) to support one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects at Hinkley Point C (HPC).
This role will support the delivery of piping installation and construction activities across major nuclear infrastructure works. The successful candidate will oversee on-site construction activities, ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements, and work closely with contractors, supervisors, and project teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Supervision & Coordination: Oversee piping installation activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and site procedures.
- Technical Oversight: Review piping drawings, isometrics, installation work packs, method statements, and construction documentation to ensure correct implementation.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all piping works comply with project quality requirements, applicable codes and standards, and UK nuclear regulations.
- Health & Safety Leadership: Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all construction activities.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor construction progress, identify risks to schedule, and support recovery plans where required.
- Issue Resolution: Identify technical and construction challenges and work with engineering, quality, and construction teams to implement effective solutions.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors, client representatives, and other disciplines to ensure successful coordination of works.
- Inspection & Testing Support: Support inspection activities, pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement activities, and turnover to commissioning teams.
- Site Walkdowns: Conduct field inspections and site walkdowns to verify installation quality and readiness for next-stage activities.
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Piping Field Engineer, Construction Engineer, Site Engineer, or Mechanical Construction Engineer on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong understanding of piping installation, fabrication, welding, supports, testing, and commissioning processes.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, or Heavy Industrial Construction.
- Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics, P&IDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of construction quality requirements, inspection processes, and installation best practices.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience coordinating contractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced site-based construction environment.
- Previous experience on major infrastructure or nuclear new-build projects would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of digital construction tools, BIM, and electronic work packs is advantageous.
We are particularly interested in candidates with hands‑on experience during the installation, construction, and mechanical execution phases of major projects, rather than purely design‑based engineering backgrounds.
If you are an experienced Piping Field Construction Engineer looking to play a key role in delivering one of Europe’s most significant nuclear infrastructure projects, we encourage you to apply and become part of this landmark programme at Hinkley Point C.
