Senior Developer, AI & Emerging Tech

Overview

In this role you will help shape Burberry’s enterprise agentic AI platform, focusing on scalable, secure, and well-governed engineering practices. You’ll lead the design and operation of platform services used by domain teams to deploy agents at scale, while building patterns for prompts, model evaluation, and governance. You’ll act as a hub of expertise, transferring knowledge to domain teams and aligning with enterprise architecture. This is a foundational role to establish engineering standards and tooling for a new capability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the shared agentic platform services consumed by domain-aligned teams for enterprise-scale agent deployment
• Own the agent platform engineering layer: orchestration, registration, monitoring and governance to enterprise standards
• Develop and maintain prompt engineering patterns, model selection frameworks, operations and evaluation methodologies
• Serve as interim centre of agentic development expertise and transfer patterns to domain teams
• Collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architects to define orchestration strategy and platform requirements
• Work with integration engineers to ensure seamless agent-to-system connectivity and governed integration layer
• Coordinate with data platform engineers to enable access to shared data infrastructure with governance and AI ethics alignment
• Support domain-aligned product teams and platform teams in build/deploy of domain- and platform-specific agents, providing guidance
• Establish and maintain documentation of agentic platform architecture, orchestration logic, schemas, evaluation frameworks and standards
• Define and enforce platform SLOs for orchestration latency, agent reliability and evaluation throughput
• Evaluate emerging agentic AI tooling and conduct proofs-of-concept where justified

Key requirements

• 5+ years in AI/ML engineering, platform engineering or software engineering
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI systems, LLM-based platforms or multi-agent orchestration on Azure, AWS or GCP
• Strong Python and modern software engineering practices
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen or CrewAI
• Knowledge of RAG patterns, vector databases and embeddings
• API design and integration (REST, event-driven, workflow-based)
• CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code
• Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes
• Hands-on with cloud AI services (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot Studio or equivalents)
• Experience building production-grade services with monitoring, incident management, and SLO operation
• Understanding of enterprise integration patterns and AI governance, risk and security controls
• Familiarity with AI evaluation methods, human-in-the-loop and bias monitoring
• Ability to work in ambiguous, greenfield environments and document engineering practices
• Experience in Retail, Luxury or Consumer goods industries beneficial
