Senior Software Engineer I – Account Integrity – Java

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer in Wise’s Account Integrity team, you’ll tackle high-impact, product-focused challenges to safeguard customers from financial crime. You’ll own end-to-end initiatives that strengthen protection through robust controls, scalable detection, and automation. The role balances backend (80%) and frontend (20%) work to deliver real-world security improvements and support growth of a world-class money transfer product. You’ll contribute to a mission-driven, cross-functional engineering culture that values customer safety and regulatory alignment.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine critical controls to prevent account takeovers
• Drive backend and frontend for crime prevention and detection systems
• Own projects end-to-end with data-driven decision making
• Improve financial crime prevention infrastructure and automate detection
• Secure customers’ money and accelerate product growth through robust systems
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science and Investigations teams

Key requirements

• Java or JVM-based languages (Spring)
• Design and operate CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with distributed and concurrent systems
• Strong product mindset and independent project ownership
• Relational and non-relational databases; query tuning and resilient schemas
• Test Driven Development and solid coding practices
