The role
We’re working on behalf of an established food manufacturing business to find an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their site engineering team. This is a varied, hands-on role covering plant, machinery, equipment and building maintenance across a modern production site.You’ll play a key part in keeping the site running to a high standard, coordinating contractors, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the business as a trusted supplier to its customers.
Key responsibilities
Carry out maintenance on plant, machinery, equipment and buildings to support operational needsDeliver a timely, supportive maintenance service to production, minimising disruption from breakdownsMaintain and audit a planned preventative maintenance programme, balancing cost, timescales and production impactCoordinate and manage third-party contractors on site, including risk assessments and permits to workPrioritise workload to minimise disruption to productionComplete daily work records, parts usage logs and risk assessments accuratelyCommunicate clearly at shift handover on work completed and outstandingSupport and coach less experienced engineers, developing the wider team’s skill baseTake part in continuous improvement activity, identifying waste and inefficienciesProvide management cover in the Engineering Manager’s absenceParticipate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours call outs
About you
Proven multi-skilled engineering experience, ideally within food manufacturing or a similarly regulated environmentComfortable working to planned maintenance schedules and completing detailed documentationStrong communicator, confident liaising with production teams, contractors and managementA natural problem solver with a continuous improvement mindsetWilling to take part in an on-call rotaExperience coaching or developing other engineers would be an advantage
