About the Company This is a UK-leading AI and data consultancy with a decade-long record of delivering production-grade AI across government, healthcare, defence and commercial clients. Their 150-strong AI and Data practice spans machine learning, generative and agentic AI, and data, and they’re recognised for responsible, secure AI. Healthcare is one of their biggest growth areas, with room to shape how the practice develops.

Role Overview You’ll be the technical lead for AI solutions that real services depend on, usually the most senior technical person on the project. That means leading software and platform engineers as well as the AI components, and going from design to production. It’s a consulting role: you’ll work with senior client stakeholders, plan and manage delivery, spot new opportunities and support bids, with credible delivery coming first. You’ll also manage, coach and develop your team.

Travel is part of the job. You’ll be on client site up to three days a week, but not every week, so you need to be comfortable with regular travel across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own technical delivery of AI solutions from architecture through to production
  • Deploy and serve machine learning models in production at significant scale
  • Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams across the whole solution, not just the AI component
  • Agree architecture, principles and direction with senior client stakeholders
  • Drive adoption of modern AI frameworks, AIOps practices and cloud-native architectures
  • Plan and manage client delivery, balancing quality, timelines and commercial outcomes
  • Support tenders and bids, and identify new opportunities within client accounts
  • Manage, coach and develop engineers, and raise standards across the practice
  • Build long-term client relationships based on trusted delivery
  • Contribute to the wider AI community through knowledge sharing and events

What You’ll Need

Essential

  • A proven record of deploying and serving ML models in production at scale, with classic ML experience (computer vision, MLOps and similar) as well as GenAI, LLMs, RAG and agentic AI
  • Strong Python and engineering discipline (CI/CD, testing, code review) on Azure and/or AWS with Docker and Kubernetes, plus experience leading and coaching engineering teams
  • Client-facing consulting ability, from senior stakeholders to delivery management and commerciality
  • Eligibility for SC clearance (UK national with five years’ UK residency) and comfort with regular client-site travel

Desirable

  • Healthcare or public sector delivery experience, or existing SC clearance
  • LLM fine-tuning, vector databases, semantic search, or AI compliance (e.g. ISO 42001)
  • Pre-sales experience and shaping AI offerings

Benefits & Package

  • Competitive salary, depending on experience
  • UK-wide remote base, with client-site travel expenses covered
  • Dedicated training and development support for data and AI talent
  • A growing healthcare client base, with further opportunities in other sectors
