Duties

• Lead the Collection Fund accounting function, including agreeing debt impairment and appeal provisions, preparation of forecasts, surplus and deficit calculations.
• Provide financial information, analysis and statutory reporting outputs relied upon by preceptors, regional authorities and external partners.
• Lead the preparation, validation and submission of statutory returns including NNDR1, NNDR3, CTB1, CTR1 and WGA inputs.
• Drafting and presenting reports on the analysis and interpretation of financial performance and actual changes to legislation for budget holders.

Job Requirements

• CCAB (or equivalent) qualified accountant, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
• Experience of resolving technical accountancy issues within a local authority or similar organisation.
• Significant experience of Collection Fund accounting, statutory returns and local authority financial reporting.
• Specialist knowledge of Collection Fund accounting, business rates retention arrangements and council tax accounting.
