Technical Lead, Android Growth Systems and App Foundations

Overview

In this Technical Lead role, you drive technical strategy for Google Search within the Android ecosystem, guiding large-scale software solutions and cross-functional alignment. You will balance hands-on IC contributions with leadership, shaping OS-level entry points and proactive assistance features. You’ll work closely with Product, UX, and engineering teams to weave Search into Android experiences, delivering high-value information with scalable infrastructure. This position offers impact across billions of users and opportunities to influence product directions and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects and set long-term technical direction
• Coordinate alignment across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain large-scale software solutions
• Leverage AI development tools to optimize daily workflows
• Manage a technical team of engineers while contributing as an individual contributor about 50% of the time

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 8 years of software development experience
• 5 years of experience testing and launching software products
• 5 years of Android application development experience
• 3 years of software design and architecture experience
