The Role

A private family in Chelsea is looking for a creative, organised and experienced part-time private chef to prepare fresh, healthy and delicious meals for a family of three.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about seasonal ingredients, vibrant flavours and healthy cooking, with a particular interest in Mediterranean, Mexican and Japanese cuisine. The family enjoys fresh, modern food that is nutritious, varied and exciting, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and beautiful, uncomplicated flavours.

Responsibilities

The role will involve planning weekly menus, preparing fresh meals, managing grocery shopping and maintaining an exceptionally clean and organised kitchen. The chef will be responsible for sourcing quality ingredients, organising food storage, minimising waste and ensuring meals are well balanced and suited to the family’s preferences.

Cooking should be creative and varied, drawing inspiration from Mediterranean dishes, Mexican flavours and Japanese cuisine, alongside other international influences. The focus is on fresh produce, seasonal ingredients, vegetables, herbs, spices, fish and quality proteins.

Occasionally, the chef may also be asked to prepare meals for small dinner parties or informal entertaining, by prior arrangement.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have professional cooking experience, ideally in a private household, and a genuine passion for healthy, flavourful food. They should be reliable, discreet, self-motivated and confident working independently, with excellent organisational skills and high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.

The position is Monday to Friday, for approximately four hours per day, totalling 20 hours per week. School holidays will be taken off, with dates agreed in advance. Menu planning, grocery shopping, food preparation and kitchen organisation will form part of the agreed working hours.

The rate is £30–£35 per hour, depending on experience. Additional hours for dinner parties or special occasions will be agreed in advance.

This is a self-employed, part-time position, with the chef responsible for their own tax and National Insurance arrangements.

The role would suit a talented chef who enjoys creating fresh, healthy and imaginative meals and wants to build a trusted, long-term relationship with a private family in Chelsea.

An enhanced DBS check is required, and the successful candidate must be willing to undergo the appropriate background screening before commencing employment.
