Parks & Countryside Officer – Maldon District Council

Overview

In this role you will help maintain and improve Maldon Promenade Park and surrounding public spaces. You will join a dedicated team delivering essential grounds maintenance and street cleansing to keep the area clean, safe, and attractive. You’ll work practical duties daily, with regular lone working and a practical driving element to operate small vehicles. This temporary, full-time position supports public-space wellbeing and park integrity under local government leadership, offering hands-on impact in the community.

Responsibilities

• Emptying bins and litter picking
• Sweeping pathways and grass cutting
• Hand-weeding shrub beds and hedge trimming
• Driving ride-along mower and other light vehicles
• General grounds maintenance and street cleansing tasks
• Safe lone-working practices and adherence to site schedules

Key requirements

• Full UK Licence – up to 3.5t
• Grounds maintenance experience
• Street cleansing and weed spraying experience
• Comfortable with lone working
• Ability to operate light vehicles (ride-along mower)
• Working pattern suitability (Mon-Thu 07:00-17:00; Fri 07:00-15:30)
