Home based, covering South East or London | Full time, 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday
Fire safety in residential buildings has never been under more scrutiny. Since the Building Safety Act and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, building owners and managing agents need qualified assessors who can identify risk and make sure it’s acted on. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing property management company in exactly that role, as it expands its specialist in‑house fire safety team across a busy London residential portfolio.
Unlike consultancy roles where a report is sent and the work ends there, you’ll be part of the organisation that manages these buildings day to day. You’ll see your recommendations through to completion. You’ll be home based with your own diary, backed by an experienced, knowledgeable team and ongoing training to keep developing your expertise.
The Role
You’ll be the specialist on the ground for a varied portfolio of London residential blocks. Your work will cover:
- Carrying out Fire Risk Assessments and Health & Safety Assessments across the London portfolio
- Inspecting fire doors in buildings over 11 metres, in line with current building safety regulations, including communal and flat entrance doors
- Making sure buildings meet the latest fire safety legislation and technical standards, and spotting where changes in regulation affect the portfolio
- Working with internal property management and compliance teams to plan remedial works, and making sure competent contractors complete them to the right standard
- Advising on fire-related matters in Building Regulations applications
- Acting as a source of health, safety and wellbeing advice for colleagues across the business
- Taking a practical, methodical approach to fire and health and safety issues
Site visits are planned by area, so your travel stays efficient and your days stay productive.
The Person
You’ll be an experienced, properly qualified fire safety professional who is confident working independently but values being part of a supportive team. You’ll be organised enough to run your own diary, and able to explain risk clearly to non-specialists, from property managers to contractors.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ equivalent
- A recognised Level 4 (or above) Fire Risk Assessment qualification
- IFE or IFSM membership
- NFRAR membership
- IOSH Technical Membership, or working towards it
- Previous experience in a health and safety or fire safety role, ideally within residential property
The Package
- Home-based role covering South East or a London Patch, with site visits planned by area
- Full time, 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday
- Ongoing training and professional development
- The chance to join a growing specialist team within an expanding property management business
