Head of BIM

Overview

In this role you will lead the BIM function within the Digital Completion team, turning strategy into a controlled BIM delivery model for stage 4 and 5. You will provide governance, assurance, and technical direction to the BIM team and wider project, ensuring BIM supports delivery, not just compliance. You will monitor model maturity, information quality, and supply chain performance, enabling timely DAC, completion, and handover. This leadership role is central to delivering digital assets and information across HS2-related works.

Responsibilities

• Translate the Digital Completion strategy into BIM delivery plans, priorities and controls
• Provide technical leadership to the BIM team and wider project on requirements and deliverables
• Maintain BIM Execution Plan and BIM procedures
• Ensure BIM requirements align with Works Information (WI-350)
• Lead and mentor a high-performing digital specialist team
• Manage Delivery Unit BIM Leads, Managers, Coordinators and SMEs
• Ensure BIM deliverables are planned, delivered and assured
• Own the BIM Information Delivery Plan and SMPs to ensure compliance with HS2, SCS and ISO 19650
• Manage BIM technical debt across project life cycles
• Provide BIM reporting and early risk escalation to reduce blockers and rework
• Drive supply chain performance to ensure quality and timely model data
• Lead BIM delivery across Stage 4 and 5, coordinating models, drawings and as-built information
• Support procurement in defining BIM scope, deliverables, and acceptance criteria
• Communicate PMI, general communications and Technical Queries
• Collaborate with internal and HS2 teams to deliver digital assets and project completion
• Lead teams and networks with HS2, parent companies, and other contract leads on digital engineering and information management
• Own BIM execution plans, information standards, procedures and CPI/CI requirements over project lifecycle
• Support staff development and engagement with wider industry to grow BIM talent

Key requirements

• Knowledge of UK BIM Framework: BS1192, PAS1192, ISO 19650 suite of standards
• Ability to author, check and approve documents for ISO and HS2 standards
• Proven track record in Digital Information leadership on large infrastructure projects
• Experience forming and leading high-performing senior teams
• Experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects with multiple stakeholders
• Credible relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders and influential leadership
• Strong communication and leadership skills
