Senior / Principal Transport Planner

Overview

As a Senior/Principal Transport Planner, you will lead transport planning across development projects in our Oxford team, delivering TA/TS/Travel Plans and guiding junior colleagues. You will manage client relationships, engage with developers and authorities, and contribute to bids and growth. You’ll tackle transport modelling, accessibility studies, and active travel strategies to shape development outcomes. This role offers progression, impact across a varied project portfolio, and a collaborative environment with strong project pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Lead transport planning inputs across development projects
• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
• Undertake transport modelling, accessibility assessments and active travel strategies
• Manage projects from feasibility to planning and delivery
• Build relationships with clients, developers, local authorities and stakeholders
• Mentor and support junior team members
• Contribute to bids and opportunities to secure future work
• Support the commercial performance and growth of the wider team

Key requirements

• Strong experience in transport planning, preferably in a consultancy
• Experience delivering development-led transport planning projects
• Strong technical report-writing, analytical and project management skills
• Experience preparing TA/TS and Travel Plans
• Confidence managing client relationships and engaging with developers and authorities
• Interest in business development and client relationship growth
• Proactive, commercially aware approach
• Progress towards or achievement of a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous
