This is a 6month locum post which is being advertised with a view to finding a suitable candidate to fill existing vacancies within the Department of General Surgery. The post is for a Locum Consultant in General and Colorectal Surgery. The unit provides elective and emergency general surgery, benign upper gastrointestinal, general and sub-specialist colorectal surgery. Minimally invasive surgery is well established within our surgical service.
This post will maintain the efficiency and capacity of the Directorate of General Surgery and will include day case operating at Trafford General Hospital. Emergency and Elective General surgical services are undergoing re-organisation/transformation across MFT. The post holder will be expected to accommodate their sessions to fit into the new service. The employing Trust is Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT)., Applications are sought from candidates who will help deliver General Surgery in both emergency and elective settings. The appointee will join the current team of surgeons where there is a tradition of support for Consultant colleagues. There is an established habit of “mentoring” new colleagues.
