Overview

Senior Electrical & Controls Design Engineer to own electrical design across new and existing products in a Surrey-based green tech business. You will develop electrical architectures, schematics, wiring diagrams and control-panel designs, plus manufacturing docs and commissioning support. The role blends design leadership with hands-on testing and junior mentoring, contributing to scalable, industrial machine solutions in a renewable energy context. A strong emphasis on electrical CAD, LV distribution, and PLC integration underpins the impact you’ll have on product readiness and site commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical design activities for new and existing products
• Develop electrical architectures, single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and panel designs
• Produce manufacturing documentation (panel layouts, cable/terminal schedules, component specs)
• Select electrical equipment and support panel builds
• Prepare design specifications, FAT testing, and commissioning
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers
• Troubleshoot and support equipment builds, testing, commissioning or troubleshooting

Key requirements

• Degree or relevant qualification in electrical engineering or related discipline
• Hands-on experience designing electrical and control systems for industrial machinery
• Experience producing electrical schematics, control panel layouts and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of LV electrical distribution, protection, cable sizing and component selection
• Working knowledge of BS7671 and EN 60204
• Experience using electrical CAD software (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical)
• Experience selecting/configuring PLC hardware, ideally Siemens
• Practical involvement in equipment builds, testing, commissioning or troubleshooting
