About the job you’re considering
Were currently looking for Software Engineers to join our friendly and collaborative team working on meaningful projects for the public sector. Youll be part of a supportive environment where learning is encouraged, and your voice matters.
Youll work alongside experienced professionals in a team that values curiosity, kindness, and continuous improvement. We use Agile ways of working, which means youll be part of a team that shares ideas, solves problems together, and supports each other every step of the way.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time. You will be required to travel to our office based in Telford on average 3 days per week.
If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)
Your role
Dont worry if youre not up to speed with the latest tools well help you get there. Heres a flavour of what your role might include:
- Working as part of a multi-disciplined team to build and improve digital services.
- Collaborating with analysts and designers to build, test, and deploy software.
- Testing, deploying, and supporting software using industry-standard tools and techniques.
- Taking part in all stages of service delivery with plenty of support and guidance.
Youll also have the chance to join communities within Capgemini where you can share ideas, learn from others, and help shape how we work.
Your skills and experience
We understand that you may not be up to date with the latest technologies, and thats okay. Were looking for individuals with a foundation in Java and software development with a desire to grow.
If you have experience in some of the following areas this is a great base to start from:
- Java and Spring Boot
- Building RESTful APIs
- Test-driven development and automated testing
- Open-source integration frameworks
- Working in a team using Agile methods
We also value adaptability, problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset. If you havent worked in all of these areas, well support your development through the Relaunch programme.
