Automation Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead automation for large-scale infrastructure, shaping provisioning and configuration across Windows and Linux environments. You will drive IaC and automation strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams to improve deployment consistency and efficiency. You’ll be hands-on, setting standards with Terraform and Ansible while integrating with CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery. This opportunity combines technical authority with strategic impact in the Defence and Aerospace domain.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automation solutions for infrastructure provisioning and configuration
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (modules, state management, reusable patterns)
• Create and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and automation pipelines
• Build automation scripts and tooling using Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows
• Improve deployment processes, environment consistency, and operational efficiency

Key requirements

• Strong Windows and Linux sysadmin expertise
• Scripting with PowerShell, Bash or SQL
• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, Aria Automation)
• Familiarity with IaC tooling (Terraform and Ansible)
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and using Gitlab
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, Swagger
• Networking and database administration know-how
