Overview

As Director of Portfolio and Strategy, you will lead NWLP’s portfolio of programmes and shape the delivery of its strategic objectives. You will work with the Executive Team to align initiatives with organisational goals, build partnerships across NHS and external stakeholders, and steer transformative projects with autonomy. You will focus on sustainability, innovation, and delivering value to clinical users and patients, while driving investment and strategic delivery at scale. Responsibilities

• Provide inspirational leadership to senior management and professionals to advance NWLP vision and strategy
• Implement change management to support transformation and staff engagement
• Develop project scopes, budgets and programmes
• Prepare complex reports and business cases reflecting strategic objectives and financial impact
• Drive business case development for major projects and secure investment

Key requirements

• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent level of experience
• MoP certified to Practitioner Level or equivalent experience managing portfolios and strategic delivery
• Desirable: Prince2, Agile or Continuous Improvement qualifications
• Significant experience at Director or senior leadership level within a complex NHS or similar organisation
• Proven experience leading large-scale transformation across organisational and system boundaries
• Experience influencing Executive-level stakeholders and system partners (e.g., ICBs, NHS England)
• Strong financial management experience including budget control and investment decision-making
