Fire & DSEAR Advisor

Overview

As Fire Safety & Risk Assessor within the CommOps team, you support fire safety governance for HPC project operations. You work with cross-disciplinary teams to prepare safety analyses, manage FRA/FHA activities, and promote a strong fire safety culture across contractors and sites. You help shape commissioning and readiness plans to ensure regulatory compliance and safe startup. This role offers impact by enabling safe, compliant project delivery in a high-stakes nuclear environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement Fire Hazard Analyses (FHA) and Fire Risk Assessments (FRA) with input from HPC SMEs
• Assist Fire Safety Arrangements in Commissioning, including owning FRA during Commissioning
• Support Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Management Systems, audits and assurance
• Contribute to commissioning fire safety strategy for Commissioning/Pre-Operation/Maintenance areas
• Ensure HPC Fire Health and Safety Standards are met and align with the HPC Way pillars
• Assist communication of lessons learned, toolbox talks, and fire safety moments
• Administer site fire safety inspections with the Commissioning Fire Safety Coordinator
• Assist Fire Safety Assurance Audits and monitoring across controlled areas and site contractors
• Support establishment and transition into operational fire safety governance and policies
• Support DSEAR arrangements, including DSEAR Risk Assessments and adherence to standards
• Contribute to operational readiness and implementation planning for fire safety up to COD

Key requirements

• Minimum Level 4 Fire Safety Qualification
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in large-scale construction or nuclear licence sites environments
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with DSEAR hazards and management processes
• Knowledge of Fire Safety principles and UK legislation
• Competent in Microsoft applications
• CompEx Foundation Plus (ExF+)
• CTC level security clearance or ability to obtain
