Senior R&D Engineer

Overview

In this role you will drive new product development and improvements for hardware and disposable biotech devices, from early specs through design, testing, validation, and transfer to manufacturing. You will lead cross-functional teams within Filtration R&D to deliver impactful solutions that support human health. You’ll apply strong 3D CAD skills and technical leadership to tackle complex engineering challenges while maintaining clear communication with leadership. This position offers hands-on on-site work in Harbourgate, Portsmouth, with meaningful opportunities to influence product direction and manufacturing readiness.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project plans, assign roles, allocate resources, and oversee risk management
• Provide technical leadership and guide teams through complex engineering challenges
• Apply 3D CAD design to support innovative product development
• Communicate project progress and updates to leadership
• Drive problem-solving and foster cross-functional collaboration

Key requirements

• BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or HND/HNC/apprenticeship with significant direct work experience
• Considerable R&D experience
• Experience leading through project management or design roles
• Strong understanding of 3D CAD design
• Ability to manage own workload with minimal supervision
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and hold a valid driver’s license
