Consultant Anaesthetics with an Interest in Peri-Operative Care & T&O

Overview

In this role you will join a supportive anaesthetic team at Glangwili General Hospital and contribute to NHS on-call coverage and senior perioperative care across elective, emergency and trauma surgery. You will engage in high-risk pre-assessment and perioperative activities, including CPET clinics, and help drive the Pre-habilitation service. The position offers clinical exposure across multiple specialties and opportunities to develop expertise in perioperative medicine in a collaborative, patient-centred setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality anaesthetic care across elective, emergency and trauma surgery
• Deliver perioperative care for patients across Hywel Dda UHB specialties
• Lead or participate in high-risk pre-assessment and CPET clinics
• Support on-call rota and senior cover for diverse lists
• Contribute to the Pre-habilitation service and multidisciplinary care planning
• Opportunity to work across emergency/trauma lists and multiple specialties

Key requirements

• Full GMC registration
• On GMC Specialist Register or will have CCT within six months of interview
• Valid Certified Advanced Life Support
• Sub-specialty training appropriate for UK consultant level (fellowship or equivalent)
• Broad clinical experience and team leadership experience
• Experience teaching and organising education for all staff groups
• Knowledge of current guidelines and ability to apply research to practice
• Willingness to travel between sites and work flexibly
