Highway / Infrastructure Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute to a growing transport design team, delivering highway and infrastructure schemes from concept to detailed design. You’ll work on diverse projects across highways, active travel and drainage, collaborating with clients and authorities to meet standards and timelines. Responsibilities

• Develop highway and infrastructure designs from concept through to detailed design
• Prepare and coordinate Section 278 and Section 38 submissions
• Design to standards such as DMRB, Manual for Streets, and LTN 1/20
• Produce drainage strategies and infrastructure design solutions
• Utilise AutoCAD, Civil 3D and related design software
• Collaborate with clients, local authorities and internal stakeholders
• Contribute to technical documentation, reports and design submissions
• Ensure projects meet timescales, budgets and quality standards
• Senior-level: lead delivery of complex projects, manage programmes, mentor juniors, provide technical leadership and QA, support business development
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in design processes

Key requirements

• Experience delivering highway and infrastructure design projects within the UK
• Knowledge of Section 278 and Section 38 agreements
• Understanding of DMRB, Manual for Streets and LTN 1/20
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Membership of CIHT, ICE or similar professional institution
