Lead Software Engineer – Frontend Engineering – React Native

Overview

Lead Front-End Engineer to build and scale a cloud-native, mobile-first digital banking experience for Chase UK. You will work within the International Consumer Bank to design, implement, and ship end-to-end features with a focus on quality and performance. You’ll mentor colleagues, drive modern engineering practices, and help shape the frontend architecture in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. The role offers a chance to contribute to a high-impact digital banking platform with AI-assisted development practices at scale.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Create, maintain, and refactor clean, reusable frontend code
• Conduct thorough testing to ensure robustness of applications
• Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure smooth functionality
• Communicate requirements and progress to stakeholders
• Mentor junior developers and guide code reviews
• Stay updated with mobile development trends and best practices
• Drive continuous improvement of development processes and workflows
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality, speed, and outcomes, with standardized validation and reuse of patterns
• Leverage SDLC tools and automation to maximize value from development and testing

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification in JavaScript concepts
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and ES6+
• Ability to write testable, clean JavaScript code
• Familiarity with writing unit tests
• Experience in a dynamic, agile, distributed team
• Excellent English communication skills
• Experience leading use of AI-assisted development tools with a focus on correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, and secure practices
