Canteen Operative

Overview

In this role you support colleagues by preparing and serving hot and cold food in a busy manufacturing canteen. You will uphold food hygiene and site safety while delivering friendly, efficient service to thousands of staff daily. The role blends cooking, cleaning, and customer-facing tasks in a hygienic environment, with a focus on teamwork and a great workplace culture. This is a hands-on position with training provided and opportunities to contribute to a high-quality food service operation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook hot and cold food for colleagues
• Maintain food hygiene and site safety procedures
• Serve and assist up to 1,500 colleagues daily
• Undertake cleaning and hygiene across kitchen and canteen areas
• Deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment

Key requirements

• No catering experience required; training provided
• Good customer service skills; experience with till or cash handling preferred
• Flexible, adaptable and willing to learn
• Enjoys working in a busy kitchen and as part of a team
• Pride in delivering service with a smile
