Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this hands-on role, you will own the mechanical design and end-to-end product development for new and customer-specific solutions. You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality and other engineers to deliver robust designs and maintain clear technical documentation. You will drive concepts through feasibility, prototyping, testing and validation, and actively improve existing products. This position focuses on practical problem-solving and delivery within an established engineering manufacturer, offering an opportunity to shape tangible products on site in Cardiff.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for new products and customer-specific solutions
• Produce and develop designs, specifications and technical drawings
• Lead concepts through feasibility, prototyping, testing and product validation
• Investigate technical problems and improve existing products and designs
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and other engineering teams to deliver robust solutions
• Maintain technical documentation and support engineering change control

Key requirements

• Strong mechanical design and product-development experience
• Hands-on capability with practical understanding of how designs are built, tested and improved
• Experience in an engineering manufacturing environment
• Mechanical engineering, product-design or related qualification (useful)
