Associate Town Planner

Overview

In this role you will lead and shape a portfolio of residential, mixed-use and strategic development projects, guiding delivery across England and Wales. You will work closely with clients and the planning team to drive strategic planning advice, oversee applications and appeals, and mentor junior planners. The position combines project leadership with business development and client relationship management within a respected consultancy. You’ll influence the team’s growth and the company’s direction in a collaborative, forward‑looking environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee planning projects from inception to determination
• Manage key client relationships and provide strategic planning advice
• Prepare and review complex planning applications, appeals and strategies
• Mentor and support junior planning staff
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to business development
• Represent clients in meetings with local authorities and stakeholders

Key requirements

• MRTPI qualified
• Significant post-qualification planning experience
• Proven delivery of residential, mixed-use and strategic development projects
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy
• Experience managing clients, projects and multidisciplinary teams
• Commercially aware with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Proactive leader with ambition to grow the planning team
