Estimator – Earthworks

Overview

As Estimator for civils and bulk earthworks, you will manage tendering to maximise margins, explore value engineering, and drive winning bids. You’ll work with clients and delivery teams to ensure clear commercial and technical scopes. The role sits at the core of securing projects and building repeat business, contributing to the company’s regional construction leadership. You will collaborate across teams to optimise tender quality and delivery readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead tendering activity and assess scope, risks and contractual terms
• Prepare measurements, quantities and first-principles pricing for labour, plant and materials
• Source and validate subcontractor quotations; explore value-engineering opportunities
• Submit compliant tenders on time and respond promptly to client queries
• Assess programme, buildability and delivery constraints within each tender
• Lead handover of secured projects with clear commercial/technical information for delivery teams
• Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat or new business
• Support and guide junior team members while upholding professional standards

Key requirements

• 3-5 years’ experience in estimating bulk earthworks and civils works
• Excellent communication skills
• Problem solving skills
• Methodical and flexible approach to tasks
• Pro-active team member
• Basic computer literacy
• Experience in ConQuest and Maximiser CRM (Desirable)
