Overview
An experienced Private Client lawyer is sought to take over an established practice generating approximately £350,000 in annual fees and help develop the firm’s Private Client presence in Liverpool. The appointment is being made as the existing head of department moves towards retirement, allowing for a planned transition rather than an immediate handover.
About the Firm
This is an established North West law firm with offices in St Helens, Runcorn and Widnes. The firm is looking to develop its presence in Liverpool and wants this appointment to play an important part in the development of its Private Client offering.
Role Overview
- Take responsibility for an established Private Client practice.
- Handle a varied caseload including wills, probate and estate administration, trusts, tax planning and lasting powers of attorney.
- Work alongside the existing head of department during a planned transition towards retirement.
- Influence the future direction and development of the department.
- Help develop the firm’s Private Client presence in Liverpool.
- Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the practice.
Candidate Profile
There is no prescribed PQE level. The firm is more interested in finding an experienced Private Client lawyer with broad experience across wills, probate, estate administration and related private client matters, together with the technical ability and confidence to take responsibility for a department.
Existing management experience would be useful, but applications are also welcomed from senior lawyers who feel ready to take on a leadership position.
The opportunity is particularly suited to someone who wants greater influence over how a Private Client practice is developed and run.

The firm has flexibility around the package depending upon the experience and seniority of the successful candidate. There is also flexibility around hybrid working, with regular office presence expected given the leadership responsibilities of the role.
