Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to develop analytics solutions and optimize code
• Translate business challenges into analytical problems and build evaluable models
• Contribute to internal tools and R&D projects; participate in conferences and knowledge sharing
• Lead design and deployment of ML/AI solutions with measurable business impact
• Identify patterns in data to deliver innovative, real-world improvements for clients
• Work with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, ML Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers on interdisciplinary projects
• Partner with QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey leadership and client executives on AI initiatives
• Advise on technology choices and practical application of AI to business problems

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in technical field
• 2+ years of experience applying ML and data mining to real-world problems with substantial data sets
• Programming experience in SQL and Python; knowledge of big data frameworks (e.g., PySpark, Hive, Hadoop) a plus
• Strong understanding of ML methods and experience applying them in data-rich environments
• Ability to prototype and deploy ML algorithms and translate outputs into solutions
• Experience deploying ML/AI technologies in production or business contexts a plus
• Familiarity with Python, PySpark, PyData stack, SQL, Airflow, Databricks, Kedro, Dask/RAPIDS; Docker, Kubernetes; cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiarity with Generative AI (GenAI) and agentic systems is a strong plus
• Excellent time management and autonomous working capability
• Willingness to travel
• Strong English communication skills across audiences
