(Associate) Director, Study Start-Up

Overview

In this London-based leadership role, you drive the strategic development and scale of Medpace’s Study Start-Up group in Europe within the clinical operations management team. You will guide team performance, improve internal processes, and oversee regulatory submission activities in collaboration with the Regulatory Submissions group. You’ll shape business development opportunities and nurture client relationships to support growth. This role combines leadership with hands-on expertise in start-up activities and regulatory affairs, offering meaningful impact in a global, mission-driven CRO environment.

Responsibilities

• Guide the growth and strategic direction of a global Study Start-Up team
• Identify and implement continuous process improvements
• Oversee Study Start-Up and Regulatory Submission activities to align with SOPs and study protocols
• Contribute to new business development opportunities
• Develop and maintain client relationships
• Support the local UK team development

Key requirements

• +10 years of Study Start-Up leadership experience within a CRO or pharmaceutical company
• Bachelor in Life Sciences; advanced degree preferred
• Strong presentation, negotiation, documentation, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proven experience in team management and development
• Customer-focused with ability to manage priorities under pressure
