Shared Lives Carer

Overview

In this role you become a self-employed carer providing person-centred support in clients’ homes or in the community. You’ll work across long-term, short-break, and day-service placements, creating a natural living environment while enabling clients to pursue their interests. You help shape care plans, ensure safety, and collaborate with the Shared Lives team, clients, and families. The role offers flexible hours and meaningful everyday impact within a trusted, supportive framework.

Pay / Benefits

• Self-employed status

Responsibilities

• Provide home- or community-based care aligned with client support plans and risk assessments
• Maintain accurate records of support, finances, medications, and routines
• Complete mandatory and specialist training as needed for complex needs
• Maintain clear communications with Shared Lives team, external agencies, and families
• Promote equal opportunities and respect behavioural, physical, social, and welfare needs
• Ensure health, safety, and welfare of yourself and the client
• Manage and document financial transactions related to the service

Key requirements

• Valid full driving licence
• DBS enhanced check for regulated activity
• Fluent English essential
• Evidence of commitment to values and interview demonstration
• Must complete mandatory training and be willing to attend specialist training
• Ability to provide a happy, healthy home and tailored support
