Material Controller & Supply Planner

Overview

In this role you ensure timely, complete material deliveries from McLaren’s supply base to support production and development programs. You will manage delivery schedules, optimize inventory within targets, and strengthen supplier capability to meet logistics challenges. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to mitigate supply risks and improve processes. The position offers meaningful impact on production readiness and supplier performance within a high-performance automotive environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain delivery schedules to satisfy production and development needs while keeping inventory within targets
• Identify and mitigate supply risk with suppliers and communicate risks to management
• Use SAP/MRP to balance demand and supply and create delivery plans with minimal obsolescence
• Be the lead contact for assigned suppliers and address material availability concerns
• Foster mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and onboard new ones including packaging requirements
• Drive continuous improvement in internal processes and supplier logistics quality
• Manage KPIs for supply base to support business improvements
• Support Engineering in new part implementation and ramp-up while minimizing financial impact from obsolescence
• Model scenarios to assess demand/supply changes and align stakeholders on optimal plans
• Own MRP parameter data to ensure inventory stability for Operations
• Schedule management against KPIs affecting materials and production planning

Key requirements

• Understanding of Automotive OEM supply chains and supplier manufacturing processes
• Experience with MRP and/or SAP desirable
• Delivery-focused with a proven on-time delivery track record
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with ability to build relationships at all levels
• Resilient under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines
• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of prioritizing tasks
• Strong Excel and data interpretation skills
• Knowledge of supply chain risk management and supplier engagement
