Construction Law – Principal Associate

Overview

You join Weightmans’ Construction team within Real Estate as a disputes-focused solicitor. You will manage a caseload of construction disputes, including adjudication and mediation, while supporting non-contentious work when applicable. You’ll work with a range of private and public-sector clients across major developments and multi-party disputes. This role offers client-facing opportunities, exposure to high-value matters, and a path to leadership in a respected national practice.

Responsibilities

• Manage a disputes-focused construction caseload, including adjudications
• Assist teammates with their construction caseloads (contentious and non-contentious)
• Advise clients on disputes and risk management
• Support dispute resolution activities including adjudication and mediation
• Draft correspondence, pleadings, witness statements, and instructions to counsel
• Advise on procurement matters and draft/negotiate main contracts and related documents
• Develop client relationships and identify business opportunities
• Achieve financial and chargeable targets (KPIs)
• Ensure deadlines and quality standards are met
• Comply with Weightmans’ and clients’ policies and procedures
• Work in alignment with company values

Key requirements

• 5+ years PQE experience essential
• Ability to lead and run a disputes-focused caseload
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills
• Strong academics and technical knowledge
• Excellent IT and typing skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
• Flexible approach
